 Ernest “John” F. Boyd

He was a lifetime resident of The Boyd Farm, East Dover Road, Wilmington, VT. Born December 1, 1925 at his home in Wilmington Vermont.  Sadly, John moved on to that “Great Vermont Farm in the sky” on April 14, 2009 in the presence of his children and the wonderful staff at Vernon Green Nursing Home.

John was first and foremost a farmer and the earth knew his name.  John Boyd had outstanding gardens and a “green thumb” that neighbors and friends were envious of.  He loved working in his gardens where he never allowed weeds.  John always had barn full of animals that he enjoyed taking care of.  From the morning dews to the evening sunsets, he had a love of nature and a love of his family.

John was the son of Milo and Helen (Pratt) Boyd.  His siblings, Charlotte Fraser and Elliott “Pickle” Boyd, survive him; he was pre-deceased by his siblings,  Urban Boyd and Herbert Boyd.  John is survived by his children: Theresa Clare, Carol Boyd, Cleon Boyd, Leon Boyd, Tammy Snow and Dannie “Buck” Boyd.  He has 14 grand children and 8 great grand children, which were the love of his life. He is also survived by his former wife Janice Batchelder.

Following his wishes there will be a celebration of his life later this summer at his home in Wilmington VT.  The date and time of this celebration will be announced at a later date.
